Are you suffering from a compromised immune system and quickly get infections? If yes, then boost your immunity with natural foods. However, feeding your body with certain food may help keep your immune system strong.

Some foods that boost the immune system are:
Citrus fruits:
Usually, people turn to vitamin C when they have flu or cold. That’s because vitamin C helps in enhancing the production of white blood cells, which fight against infections.
Popular citrus fruits include oranges, lemon, grapefruit, and limes. Thus, recommended daily amount of vitamin C for women is 75mg per day and 90 mg daily for men.
Garlic:
Garlic is used in almost every cuisine in the world. However, garlic has several health benefits such as effective in fighting infections, lowers blood pressure, and slows down the hardening of the arteries.
Hence, garlic shows immune-boosting properties due to the presence of Sulphur containing compound, allicin. Thus studies found that garlic helps in activating macrophages and other immune cells, which make your defense strong.
Yogurt:
Yogurt contains live and active cultures of beneficial bacteria, commonly known as probiotics, which plays important role in making your immune system strong. Moreover, it is good to use plain yogurt flavored with fruit chunks such as strawberries, instead of yogurt having added sugar.
Turmeric:
Turmeric is the main ingredient in your curries. However, this bright yellow spice contains strong anti-inflammatory properties against rheumatoid and osteoarthritis arthritis. Studies found this spice is rich in curcumin, which gives color to turmeric and reduces exercise-induced muscle damage. However, curcumin also has strong anti-viral and immune-boosting properties.
Green tea:
Both green and black teas contain a high concentration of antioxidants such as flavonoids. Where green tea is also rich in epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is a strong antioxidant. Studies have revealed that EGCG can enhance your immune functions. Moreover, green tea also contains a handsome amount of amino acid L-theanine, which helps in the production of germ-fighting T immune cells.
Red bell peppers:
You may think only citrus fruits contain a good amount of vitamin C, while red bell peppers contain 3 times more concentration of vitamin C than Florida orange. However, bell peppers are also rich in beta carotenes. Beta carotenes not only support your immune system but also convert to vitamin A, which maintains your skin and eye health.
Take away Message:
To fight infections, make your immunity strong with natural foods. Thus, eat right and natural food and enjoy a healthy life.
